Yellow House - south office/studio 2019
Drunken Paw was invited to participate by Kevin Kanashiro and Deborah Herringer Kiss for a group exhibition entitled Cache at Herringer Kiss Gallery, Calgary in July of 2019. For this exhibition, Kevin requested large scale works. We decided to take over the old nursery at the front of the Yellow House. It was a tiny south facing room with a view to the street, and another cozy drawing space for our trio.
Because we were not working in public, we experienced a different kind of freedom. Eyes were no longer on us. Our subject matter often drew from our conversations, the neighbourhood, the view of the street, the character of the house, the news, world events, celebrity deaths, etc. Always informed by the music we listen to, we included a printed playlist with the exhibition. All works were exquisitely framed by Kevin Kanashiro. In 2021, this series was shown a second time in the group exhibition “The New Normal” - at Ruberto Ostberg Gallery in Calgary.
