Drunken Paw at Empire of Dirt
In Spring of 2022 Drunken Paw was invited to spend two weeks at the Empire of Dirt Residency, near Creston BC located on the unceded traditional territory of the Yaqan Nukiy within the Ktunaxa Nation. Shaped by the values of honour and respect for the land and its history, together with their beliefs in relationship, reciprocity and openness, this extraordinary residency created by Marnie Temple and James Wallis enabled our work, research and practice to flourish. Drunken Paw is honoured to be asked by our hosts to continue with our work through a second residency and an exhibition at Titled Brick Gallery in Creston BC in April of 2023. We are very much looking forward to reconnecting with the people and land we fell in love with.
We are incredibly grateful for the support from our hosts Marnie Temple and Jim Wallis, and the Canada Council. Our residency at Empire of Dirt in the spring of 2022 was awarded a Canada Council for the Arts Explore and Create: Research and Creation grant which made it possible. We continue working on the drawings that we started at last years residency for the exhibition in 2023. Our major collaborative drawings take months to complete and we are excitedly pursuing the themes and vibe initiated at EoD to achieve completion in March of 2023.

We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. Massive thanks to Marnie and James of the Empire of Dirt Residency for their outstanding passion to support arts and creativity and their belief in our drawing collaborative, and us individually as artists.
